Confidentiality
All information shared with Helping Hanz is confidential and would not be shared unless explicit permission has been gained from the client. However confidentiality can be broken without permission for the following reasons. If the information shared was in regard to:
1. Risk to self- if it is believed you are of imminent risk of serious harm or death then Helping Hanz may share information with your next of kin/ trusted other person in your household and outside agencies such as GP or crisis team/ emergency services (if necessary).
2. You disclose information which makes you a risk to others. Although you and your safety are paramount, Helping Hanz also has an obligation to prevent the harm of others. Other agencies may be contacted such as Adult Social care, Children’s services or the police.
3. If you disclose any information which relates to you being at imminent risk from others, such as emotional, physical or sexual abuse or domestic violence. Helping Hanz may have to disclose this information to agencies may be contacted such as Adult Social care, Children’s services or the police.
When a situation arises where confidentiality requires to be broken, this will always be discussed with the client prior to disclosing information, unless it was believed to put you or others at risk by doing so. You will be supported throughout by your therapist.
